Privacy Policy
Draft of 14 October 2026. Not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Last updated 16 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Reelwise collects, why, who it goes to and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who is responsible
The responsible party is Vantum AI (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/774811/07), trading as Reelwise. Privacy questions and requests go to our information officer at [email protected].
What we collect, and why
| Your email address, and your name and Google account ID if you sign in with Google | To create your account, sign you in and send you codes, receipts and notices about your plan. Needed to use Reelwise. |
| The videos you upload and the listing facts you type | To make your reels. Videos can show people and the inside of homes; see "Your footage" below. |
| Your reels, captions and scores | So you can watch and download them. |
| Plan and payment records: plan, amounts, dates, the last 4 digits of your card | To bill you, show your history and meet tax and accounting law. We never see or store full card numbers. |
| Technical information: IP address, browser type, sign-in times | To keep accounts secure and stop abuse, such as people opening many accounts for free reels. |
| Emails we send you | Kept as the record of what we told you and when, for example renewal reminders. |
| Early access sign-ups on our website: your name and email, your WhatsApp number and agency if you give them, the button you pressed, and the advert or website that sent you | To tell you when Reelwise opens and give you your free reel, and to see which of our adverts work. See "Early access list" below. |
We collect this from you, and from Google if you choose Google sign-in. We do not buy personal information and we do not sell it.
Your footage
Only upload footage you have the right to use, with the agreement of the owner or occupants and of anyone who can be recognised in it. To edit, our software looks at still frames from your videos and sends some of them to AI model providers to describe the rooms. We delete your uploaded videos automatically 30 days after you upload them. Reels stay until you delete the listing or close your account.
Early access list
Before Reelwise opens, our website (reelwise.co.za) has an early access form. When you join, we store your name, email address, and your WhatsApp number and agency if you add them, with the button you pressed, the advert tags in the link you arrived on (such as utm_campaign or a Facebook click ID), the website that sent you and your country. We use it to email you (and WhatsApp you, if you gave a number) when Reelwise opens, to give you your free reel, and to count which adverts bring sign-ups. We keep it until Reelwise opens and we have invited you, and for no more than 12 months after that. Ask us at any time and we remove you sooner.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run Reelwise for us, each bound to use it only for that:
- Cloudflare: hosting, database, file storage and bot protection (Turnstile).
- Paystack: card, Capitec Pay and EFT payments.
- Resend: sending our emails.
- Meta: only while our website runs Meta's pixel (see "Cookies").
- Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to: still frames from your videos and the text of what is said in them, to plan the edits.
We also share information when the law requires it.
Information sent outside South Africa
Some of these providers store or process information outside South Africa, including in the United States. Under section 72 of POPIA we only use providers bound by law or by contract to protect personal information to a standard that is at least as strong as POPIA's.
Cookies
In the app we use only the cookies Reelwise needs to work: one that keeps you signed in and short-lived ones used during Google sign-in. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a real person is signing in, and that a person sends the early access form. We do not use advertising cookies in the app.
On our website, while we advertise on Facebook and Instagram, we may use Meta's pixel to measure those adverts. When it is on, a notice says so on every page. The pixel sets Meta's cookies (such as _fbp, and _fbc if you came from an advert) and tells Meta which of our pages you visit and whether you joined early access. When you join, we also send Meta your email address and WhatsApp number in scrambled (hashed) form, so Meta can match the sign-up to an advert. Meta handles this under its own privacy policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy). To opt out, choose "Opt out" in the notice or in the footer, and the pixel stops loading in that browser; you can also change your advert settings at facebook.com/adpreferences. The website keeps your choice, and the advert link you arrived on, in your browser's own storage.
How long we keep it
- Uploaded videos: 30 days after upload.
- Reels: until you delete the listing or close your account.
- Account details: while your account is open, and deleted within 30 days of closing it.
- Payment and tax records: as long as tax and company law require (generally 5 years).
Security
Information travels encrypted (HTTPS). Sign-in codes and session keys are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form. Card details are handled by Paystack and never reach us. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
Your rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy.
- Ask us to correct or delete it.
- Object to how we use it.
- Not receive marketing: we only send marketing emails if you agree, and every one has an unsubscribe link.
Email [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.
You may also complain to the Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za, [email protected], 010 023 5200.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters to you, we will email you before the change applies.
